In order to use your own web domain or subdomain for your online shop (ex: yourdomain.com), you will need to make some DNS settings.
These can be configured:
- by your top-level domain provider;
- by the company that sold you the domain;
- by your hosting provider.
The configuring process will most likely take place online, over a short period of time.
You must take into consideration the fact that each domain registrar or web hosting company uses different configuration methods, therefore we cannot provide you direct support for the DNS setting process.
If you experience difficulties with these settings, please contact the support team of your domain registrar, your hosting provider or your top-level domain provider.
1. If your domain is not hosted, you will have to configure the following domain name servers: ns1.shopmania.org, ns2.shopmania.org
In this case, you must contact the company that sold you the domain name or your top-level domain provider. After finalizing the DNS settings configuration, it will take several hours before your shop becomes available online. If you experience difficulties when accessing your website, feel free to contact us at the following email address: email@example.com.
Please note that if you opt for hosting your domain on the ShopMania Biz servers, you will no longer be able to access the email addresses previously created on the former hosting server. We strongly recommend that you save all your existing emails before setting up the ShopMania Biz nameservers.
By selecting a Premium or VIP membership, you will be able to create and manage your domain email addresses (ex: firstname.lastname@example.org). This option is however not available for the Basic membership, which only provides a redirection of the received email messages to you real email address.
2. If your domain is already hosted, you will need to point it to our server.
You will have to create an A record which points your domain to this IP address: 126.96.36.199. Please note that yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com are seen as two different domains by the major search engines. We suggest that you setup the A Record to point both the "yourdomain.com" and the "www.yourdomain.com" versions of your domain to our IP address.
A record example:
www.yourdomain.com. A 188.8.131.52
yourdomain.com. A 184.108.40.206
Important: You must add a dot after the host name. Do not add a dot after the IP address.
Please note that DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate through to all the DNS servers in the world. So even though your domain changes work in your own browser, there might be people in other geographical areas who still can't access your site.
